Chairman of the Board Statement
We are happy to announce that beginning January 1, 2005, all school psychology
trainees and all other new applicants for national certification must
be trained and credentialed in accordance with the Standards
for the Credentialing of School Psychologists (2000).
The new standards continue to require the following:
- completion of a sixth year specialist degree
in school psychology
- a total of 60 graduate (90
quarter) semester hours
- a supervised internship consisting
of 1200 hours, and
- a passing score of 660 on the National School
Psychologist Examination.
We are appreciative of the efforts of the ACT Committee and the NASP
Delegate Assembly for developing and formally approving a set of credentialing
standards that will continue to ensure the quality of our profession.
Professionally,
Sawyer Hunley, NCSP
Chair, National School Psychology Certification Board
